About This Spot

Stepping into Trattoria Marcella feels like slipping into a warm embrace tucked quietly away on Watson Road. The restaurant breathes a casual yet refined neighborhood charm, where the hum of friendly chatter and the clinking of glasses mingle effortlessly with an inviting Italian spirit. There’s a steady, comfortable rhythm here—unrushed yet lively—that encourages you to settle in and savor the evening as much as the meal.

This is the kind of place where generations gather, where family stories blend with the aromas of slow-simmered sauces and freshly baked bread. The atmosphere balances familiarity with genuine hospitality; you’re greeted not as a customer but as part of a long-standing ritual that spans decades. It’s a canvas for quiet celebrations and everyday moments alike, where laughter feels natural and the staff’s warmth never feels rehearsed.

The menu is a heartfelt journey through classic Italian flavors that echo homemade traditions. Whether it’s the comforting richness of lasagna fresh from the oven or the surprising delight of toasted ravioli paired with bread and hummus, each plate tells a story of thoughtful preparation and authentic taste. Seasonal specials and house favorites like the risottos or veal dishes arrive with generous portions and hues that invite sharing and slow conversation.

There’s a special attention here to family-friendliness that quietly shapes the experience without fanfare. Children find their favorites too, and the space naturally accommodates gatherings large and small with an ebb and flow that never feels hurried or cramped. From the vibrant basil lemonade to the delicate finish of a perfectly executed tiramisu, every detail feels geared toward those moments of contentment that linger after the last bite.

Trattoria Marcella doesn’t shout for attention; instead, it quietly unfolds its warmth through the smiles of seasoned servers and the little nods of recognition as familiar faces return. It’s a place where you arrive and immediately know that this meal is about more than just food—it’s about connection, comfort, and the joy of sharing a table with people you care about.

Me and my family have been going to Trattoria since I was a young g girl. Recently, we celebrated my late grandmothers bday and my mother’s birthday there! We are always welcomed with smiling faces and great customer service. Ohh the food is excellent as well!

We had a fantastic experience at Trattoria Marcella. I ordered the toasted ravioli and lasagna, both of which were outstanding—classic comfort dishes done right. The bread was incredibly fresh and paired perfectly with their delicious hummus, which was a pleasant standout. What really impressed me was how family-friendly this place is. My 2-year-old daughter loved the calamari—which says a lot, because it’s not every day you find a toddler-approved appetizer at an Italian spot! They also have a great selection of wines and cocktails, which made for a relaxing night out with the perfect touch of elegance. Whether you’re going out with family or on a date night, Trattoria Marcella is definitely worth the visit. We’ll be back!

We received a gift card, so our first visit here. The place is charming and was packed by the time we left. Our server and the staff were top notch and accommodating. We had calamari and bread with hummus to start. Saw pictures online, so knew I wanted the lasagna. My husband got the pork chop special. The food was very good. We’ll be back.

Fast paced service, we did not have to wait for a table much. We ordered the calamari, lasagna, and the lobster risotto. The lobster risotto is not on the menu but the waiter will tell you about it. They also have shrimp risotto or a mix of both lobster and shrimp. For dessert we ordered the tiramisu. All the food is flavoured and gives a sense of homemade food. The portions are huge!!! We had to bring it home. They also give free bread with hummus which is refillable. We told the waiter (who was extremely kind and speedy) that we were in a rush and the food came up maybe 5 mins after we ordered. This place is legit.

What an amazing restaurant !!! Arrived 30 minutes early so we could have drinks at the bar. Bar staff was awesome and she took great care of us with a very nice selection of both mix drinks and wine . She (sorry forgot her name) made my date the best Italian martini. Dinner 1st Mellisa was outstanding as was the bus staff - This young man had only been on the job two weeks and killed it. So staff and service excellent - Now to the food - Traveling from Chicago to eat Italian can always be a challenge sorry I have been spoiled. I can’t even look at an Olive Garden when driving past it. The food last night was outstanding. Started with the stuffed artichoke (awesome) then had to try the fried ravioli. Ok I forgot to take pics but these have been the best to date in the surrounding St Louis area (including your Hill area) Moved to the lamb chops not me my date but they were excellent. I ordered probably the best rigatoni that I’ve ever had. From the sauce, to the shrimp & cauliflower it was outstanding. Parking was easy - You will probably always need a reservation after 5pm on the weekends. They do have outdoor seating.

This place was great, we had the lasagna, margarita pizza, and the raviolis of course! It was traditional and unique. We ordered the fried ravioli for an appetizer and also had a few loafs of complementary bread with yummy hummus. I wish the raviolis had a little bit more meat but they were covered in parmesan and basil and fried perfectly. The marinara that came with them was bursting with flavor and definitely homemade. The lasagna was rich with sausage, cottage cheese, cheese, and the perfect amount of marinara. I would say it’s the best lasagna I’ve ever had. It was a decent portion size and we took it home because it would be a sin to waste. The margarita pizza was on thin crust and seemed like it was wood fired. It had good amounts of mozzarella and just the right amount of basil and the perfect crunch. They had specials and loads of desserts. We did get a cannoli to share and it was phenomenal. The lighting was romantic and moody, perfectly dimmed. There were classic photos all over the restaurant. The service was excellent and couldn’t be more perfect. Needless to say we loved it and will be back!!!

Met a group of friends here for a Christmas dinner. I must say it was great. We were seated in the second room. Our server was attentive and prompt to greet us. We had appetizers and enjoyed a wonderful Dinner. The apps - carpaccio, toasted ravs and carmelized cauliflower were super. My lobster and shrimp risotto was tasty. Our dessert selection for the group was chocolate cream brûlée, regular cream brûlée, spumoni ice cream, and a hazelnut cannoli. All of them were delicious. My preference was the cannoli. I would absolutely return. Reservations highly recommended

My wife and I went in not long ago. She doesn't get a craving for Italian nearly as often as I do. So, when she mentioned Italian, so I jumped at a chance to try a new spot. Trattoria Marcella had great reviews so we went (no reservation on a Friday). Somehow they were able to seat us within 20 minutes or so. It was a bit loud once we were seated, but in hindsight sight, that was probably because of how excited people were over the food. I know we were. When the main course came out it was presented extremely well. Looked absolutely amazing. My wife had the lasagna, I had the rigatoni. When the first bite hit us, we were both speechless for a moment. The food was absolutely phenomenal. Everything cooked to perfection. The flavors were very well balanced and blew us both away. We can not wait to go back. Hands down the best Italian I have ever had.
